In the counties listed above, dialing “2-1-1” will connect you to the local United Way Information and Referral Agency. Also above are links to the agency’s web page if available. These are the primary sources for government and local agencies that could be helpful in an emergency.
Ohio Benefit Bank
The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) connects low and moderate-income Ohioans with access to work supports such as tax credits and public benefits.
Government Benefits
GovBenefits.gov is the official benefits website of the U.S. government, with information on numerous benefits and assistance programs.
Individuals over 55
For people who are 55 years and older, the National Council on Aging provides detailed information on available benefits: Benefitscheckup.org.
You May Be Eligible for a Safelink Free Wireless Phone
Although eligibility guidelines vary by state, in general, individuals qualify if they participate in a public assistance program such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Program, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), National Free School Lunch, or Federal Housing/Section 8 Assistance. Additionally, if they do not receive any of these public assistance programs, they may also qualify based on total household gross monthly income.
