CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Northeast Ohio human service organization with more than 1,000 volunteers who serve the needy, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
Despite its longevity, the society is “one of the best kept secrets in Northeast Ohio,” says Executive Director John Litten.
SVDP is celebrating its sesquicentennial year with a gala and auction from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at Embassy Suites-Rockside, 5800 Rockside Wood Blvd., Independence.
The organization’s volunteers provide person-to-person service to an estimated 260,000 poor people living in Ashland, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit and Wayne counties …
