(Cleveland, OH) — Join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Diocese of Cleveland (SVDP) and other caring members of Northeast Ohio as they convene to raise money and help our region’s poor one step at a time at the Third Annual SVDP Friends of the Poor Walk on Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m to noon. In an effort to encourage participants in and around Cuyahoga and Summit counties, the family-friendly event will be held simultaneously at both St. Edward High School in Lakewood, and at Richfield Woods Park in Richfield. Both paved routes are less than one mile and are designed to accommodate strollers, wheelchairs and individuals of all ages. All monies raised locally will be utilized to help economically-disadvantaged residents in Northeast Ohio. To participate or donate, register online at: fopwalk.org. For more information, contact SVDP Cleveland at 216.696.6525, ext. 3150.
Last year, the local walk raised approximately $10,000 that directly benefitted the needy in our region via the Society’s programs and services. The SVDP Cleveland walk is part of a national, simultaneous event, the SVDP USA Annual Friends of the Poor Walk. In 2013, the national fundraiser encompassed 232 different walks across the country — attracting more than 22,000 walkers – and generating some $2.1 million for the poor.
